New international guidance synthesized using evidence from clinical trials and clinical experience with pharmacological has recently been published to guide management of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Four management principles were addressed: risk of future fractures in postmenopausal requires the use of situation-specific assessment tools to guide decision-making; patient preferences should be
considered; nutritional and lifestyle interventions and fall prevention should also be used, and pharmacological treatment can be used with consideration of the individual risk-benefit and safety profiles. The guidelines, published in Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, can be viewed here.
