Remembering with great respect Dr Newman – he was the leading pioneer of methadone maintenance treatment as a therapeutic modality for management of opioid dependence and died recently as a result of a cycling accident in his native New York City. His vision saved thousands of lives and an enormous amount of suffering. A true visionary.
