A new resource for prescribing with renal impairment

The Veterans Mates service, provided by the Australian Department of Veterans Affairs, develops and distributes excellent resources that can be accessed by health care professionals and consumers to support quality use of medicines. The latest topic addressed relates to prescribing for people with renal impairment. The module addresses issues such as drugs that can cause renal impairment, medicines that may require dosage modification in renal impairment, medications that can have reduced efficacy in the context of renal impairment, and drugs that can cause dangerous elevation of serum potassium when prescribed for people with compromised renal function.
