Ceftriaxone & haemolytic anaemia – an uncommon but important effect

Considering how widely the third generation cephalosporin ceftriaxone is prescribed, it is fortunate that this haemolytic anaemia is a relatively rare adverse effect. Nevertheless, clinicians need to be aware of this issue, and a recent case report and literature review provides excellent information about this phenomenon.
