Researchers from Monash University in Australia have used a structured approach in the simplification of medication regimens for older people in residential aged care. The Medication Regimen Simplification Guide for Residential Aged CarE (MRS GRACE) involved questions about the resident; regulatory and safety requirements; drug interactions; product formulation; and the facility where the person lived. Simplification was found to be possible for all residents in the sample who took medicines at five or more administration times during the course of the day. Reducing medication regimen complexity is an important step towards reduction of risks associated with medication use in the aged care setting. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29844664
