Research published in a recent edition of The Annals of Internal Medicine suggest that citizens of the USA have a relatively optimistic view of the possible health benefits that might be garnered from the use of cannabis. In the study, about 15% of adults reported using marijuana in the past year, with over 8/10 holding a believe that marijuana has at least 1 benefit. Pain management (66%) was the most commonly cited potential use. Many (18%) believe exposure to secondhand marijuana smoke is somewhat or completely safe for adults and 7.3 % agree that marijuana use is somewhat or completely safe during pregnancy.
