Vancomycin for mild – moderate C Difficile infection

A recently published review has compared oral metronidazole and vancomycin for the treatment of mild-to-moderate C difficile infection. The authors found evidence of superior efficacy with vancomycin, and also a lower cost of treatment per case for hospitalized patients treated with that drug. They conclude that recent guidelines that preference vancomycin over metronidazole for mild-moderate cases are justifiable. Read more here
