The stated purposes of the World Anti-Doping Code are to protect the athletes’ right to participate in doping-free sport (promoting health, fairness and equality for athletes worldwide, to ensure harmonized & effective anti-doping programs for prevention of doping, and to facilitate education, deterrence, detection and enforcement, administered under the rule of law. WADA has recently released the 2021 code, which provides guidance for those needing to interpret the processes and practices inerrant to the use of medicines and other substances by people involved in sports.
